focus-ratings-mornoing newsGood morning...

Firstly, I'd like to welcome you all to this free trial of Early Bird Ratings.

Please remember, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask away.

I'm around all day for the next 10 days of the free trial.

Well, not such a good day for the system selections, yesterday.

From the three selections, one was a non-runner and the other two did nothing.

Let's hope that today's two selections do better.

Diamonds and Gold Selections...

Punchestown - 18:20 - Ballyoisin (both Diamonds and Gold.)
Hamilton - 18:30 - Diviner (both Diamonds and Gold.)

Yesterday's Results...

There were 34 rated races yesterday.

Of those races, for 3 of them, our top rated horses were non runners.

That leaves 31 races.

11 of those 31 races were won by a top rated horse.

This gives a Strike Rate of 35.48%

GW, GP, CW, CP...

A couple of you (on the free trial) have asked about what these columns (on the ratings) mean.

GW stands for Going Wins and GP stands for Going Places.

CW stands for Class Wins and CP stands for Class Places.

Now, I personally feel that these are far more important metrics than Course win or Distance win.

If a horse has a course win, that just means that the horse has visited (and won) at that course in the past. It may have been at a different distance and...

I feel that the going is far more important; a 20 furlong race on heavy ground is very different to the same distance on good or firm ground.

Also, if a horse has won at the course previously, that may have been in a Class 6 race. Now, if today's race is Class 3, that Course win really is meaningless.

Something to make you smile...

Politics made simple...

Whether Conservative, Liberal or Labour , I think you'll get a kick out of this!

A little boy goes to his dad and asks, 'What is Politics?'

Dad says, 'Well son, let me try to explain it this way:

I am the head of the family, so call me The Prime Minister.

Your mother is the administrator of the money, so we call her the Government.

We are here to take care of your needs, so we will call you the People.

The nanny, we will consider her the Working Class.

And your baby brother, we will call him the Future.

Now think about that and see if it makes sense.'

So the little boy goes off to bed thinking about what Dad has said.

Later that night, he hears his baby brother crying, so he gets up to check on him.

He finds that the baby has severely soiled his nappy.

So the little boy goes to his parent's room and finds his mother asleep.

Not wanting to wake her, he goes to the nanny's room. Finding the door locked, he peeks in the keyhole and sees his father in bed with the nanny..

He gives up and goes back to bed.

The next morning, the little boy say's to his father, 'Dad, I think I understand the concept of politics now.'

The father says, 'Good, son, tell me in your own words what you think politics is all about.'

The little boy replies, 'The Prime Minister is screwing the Working Class while the Government is sound asleep. The People are being ignored and the Future is in deep shit.'

Have a great day's racing!

As always...

My kindest regards
