focus-ratings-mornoing newsGood morning...

I was hoping to get a lot of work done today (even though Sunday is normally my day off) but...

I have been invited out to Sunday lunch by some good expat friends.

It's a sort of birthday treat,

I hope that they haven't baked a cake with candles...

That would be a lot of candles!

I'll be having some bets on the French racing as a few of the races look like they have the right shape (as far as the ratings are concenred) for me to bet the race (rather than betting the horse.)

Focus Ratings

focus

Although the strike rate for yesterday's racing was lower than we have been seeing, it was, weirdly enough, a blindly profitable day.

Had you blindly backed the top rated horse in every race, you would have made a 12% Profit to ISP.

In our first ever rated race in South Africa (Turffontein - 2:15)

Our top rated horse won at 23/20 and...

Our second rated horse came second at 10/1

So, a good start for us in South Africa.

At Lyon Parilly (FR) we did nothing in the first rated race.

In the second race (5:00 Prix Cleopatre) our top rated horse came second and our second rated horse won the race @103/10

In the third race (6:05 Prix Corrida) our top rated horse came second.

In our only rated race at Belmont Park (USA) our top rated horse won @ 5/4

Today...

Ante Post Ratings

27e164c0767bb5fcf74c98f871ba8524--gold-chains-operaFrom next week I shall be rating (well in advance) any decent races that need to be rated as part of my Ante Post Ratings service.

Obviously, you as Focus Ratings members will get access to these ratings for free.

Now, I anticipate that I should be able to produce Ante Post Ratings for all big race entries about month before the race.

I'll be updating you early next week on how to access Ante Post Ratings.

Place Profits

There were no Place Profits selections yesterday.

Place Profits only uses races with 5 to 10 runners;

Because of the large fields over the last week, this reduces the number of selections.

This makes it 4 wins and 5 seconds from the last 10 races (taking the 2 non-runners into account.)

Zen Teachings...

It's number 20 that cracks me up!

1. Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me for the path is narrow. In fact, just leave me the Hell alone.

2. Sex is like air. It's not that important unless you aren't getting any.

3. No one is listening until you fart.

4. Always remember you're unique. Just like everyone else.

5. Never test the depth of the water with both feet.

6. If you think nobody cares whether you're alive or dead, try missing a couple of payments.

7. Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

8. If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

9. Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

10. If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably well worth it.

11. If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

12. Some days you are the dog, some days you are the tree.

13. Don't worry, it only seems kinky the first time.

14. Good judgment comes from bad experience ... and most of that comes from bad judgment.

15. A closed mouth gathers no foot.

16. There are two excellent theories for arguing with women. Neither one works.

17. Generally speaking, you aren't learning much when your lips are moving.

18. Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
