focus-ratings-mornoing newsGood morning...

With no Spotlight Ratings selections yesterday...

There's very little for me to talk about.

However, I did manage to do some analysis of our Sha Tin races (since I started publishing them.)

Now, because I've just had visibility of the 2 world class races at Tokyo tomorrow I need to concentrate on creating Spotlight Ratings for them.

So, the Sha Tin analysis will have to wait until Monday.

I'll do the same thing for the Happy Valley races for next Wednesday.

Come to think about it, some of you will probably want the same data but with jockey and trainer names included. I'll get that done for the top three rated horses once tomorrow's Sha Tin results are in.

This is a bit of work for me (not that I'm complaining) in that I don't record that data (Jockey and Trainer) on my database tables so...

I'll have to manually add those details, race by race, for every race since I started doing the Compass Ratings.

I may just have to take my laptop to the terrace behind that PMU and sit there, in the shade, and do that work there.

Eating an ice cream and drinking a nice cold beer.

It's a hard life, isn't it?

Compass Ratings

Compass-RatingsI managed to generate the Hong Kong ratings for this Sunday's races at Sha Tin done ready for Thursday's Morning News.

The link to this Sunday's ratings at Sha Tin (top 3 rated horses) is here... http://compassratings.com/data/compassratings-2020-05-31.pdf

I'll get to the data analysis early next week but...

With the return of GB racing, that might have to take priority.

Spotlight Ratings

spotlight-ratings

There is one Group 3 race at Doomben (AUS) first thing Saturday morning.

I sent out the ratings for that race with last Thursday's Morning News.

The Spotlight Ratings for Saturday are here... http://spotlightratings.com/data/SpotlightRatings-2020-05-30.pdf

Sunday's Japanese Racing

I've also managed to rate the 2 Japanese top quality races on Sunday.

The important one is the Japanese Derby with prize money (for the winning horse) of £1,573,527

The second race is just a Grade 2 race and, as a result, ONLY pays out £404,581 to the winning horse.

You should see the prize money paid out in Japanese horse races.

In my next life I'm going to come back as a Japanese race horse or, preferably...

The owner of a Japanese race horse.

With regards to the Japanese Derby...

Our top two rated horses are top two (in the right order) in the betting status (i.e. Fav and 2nd Fav) which kind of indicates that the ratings have got it right.

Sunday's French Racing

There are also 2 Listed races and 2 Group 2 races at Deauville (FRA) on Sunday and I have rated those as well.

The Spotlight Ratings for Sunday are here... http://spotlightratings.com/data/SpotlightRatings-2020-05-31.pdf

Monday's Racing

There are 2 Group 1 races in France and 1 Group 2 race in Germany on Monday the 1st of June.

I have managed to rate those races in advance,

Something to make you smile...

Salad Problems...

A man goes to the doctor and says: 'Doctor, there's a piece of lettuce sticking out of my bottom.' The doctor asks him to drop his trousers and examines him.

The man asks: 'Is it serious, doctor?' and the doctor replies: 'I'm sorry to tell you, but this is just the tip of the iceberg.'

The Hunting Trip...

A man left for work one Friday afternoon. Instead of going home, he stayed out the entire weekend hunting with the boys and spending all his wages.

When he finally got home on Sunday night, he was confronted by his very angry wife.

After two hours, she stopped nagging and said: 'How would you like it if you didn't see me for two or three days?' He replied: 'That would be fine with me.' Monday went by and he didn't see his wife. Tuesday and Wednesday came and went with the same results.

Thursday, the swelling went down just enough for him to see her a little out of the corner of his left eye.

The Magic Trick

A magician was working on a cruise ship in the Caribbean. The audience was different each week so he did same tricks over and over.

The problem was, the captain's parrot saw all the shows and began to understand how the magician did every trick.

He started shouting in the middle of the show: 'Look, it's not the same hat. Look, he's hiding the flowers under the table. Hey, why are all the cards the ace of spades?' The magician was furious but, as it was the captain's parrot, he could do nothing. Then one day the ship sank and the magician found himself floating on a piece of wood with the parrot.

They glared at each other but said nothing. Finally, after a week, the parrot said: 'OK, I give up. Where's the boat?'

Space Pen...

When NASA started sending up astronauts, they quickly discovered that ballpoint pens would not work at zero gravity.

To combat the problem, NASA scientists spent a decade and $12 billion developing a pen that wrote at zero gravity, upside down, underwater, on almost any surface including glass and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to 300C.

The Russians used a pencil.

Fly Swatting

I stopped at a friend's house the other day and found him stalking around with a fly-swatter.

When I asked if he was getting any flies, he answered: 'Yeah, three males and two females.'

Curious, I asked how he could tell the difference.

He said: 'Three were on a beer can and two were on the phone.'

The Rugby Player

A man and his wife were on their honeymoon and about to do the deed.

The wife stops the husband unexpectedly.

"Darling," she says. "I am afraid I have a dark secret to tell you, and I haven't been entirely honest with you."

"Sweetheart, no matter what you have done in the past I will forgive you."

"Well," she starts. "I used to be a hooker."

"My dearest," he replies. "That is no problem for me. To be honest I'm a little turned on. Tell me more."

"Ok then, my name was Brian and I played for Wigan."
